Beauty is not just in the Eye of the Beholder – It’s in the Details

These days everyone has a different opinion about what makes a woman beautiful. And by beautiful, I’m not referring to a person from the inside out but physically attractive superficially beautiful.

Is it the way she wears her hair? The stylish clothes she wears? Perhaps! But if you go beyond a beautiful person’s immediate surface and look a little deeper, you might see the fine details that enhance an individual’s physical beauty.

While genetics obviously do play a part, making the right product choices and following the right diets and skincare regimens significantly impact how beautiful your skin is.

Since the voluptuous lips of Angelina Jolie appeared on screen, many other celebrities like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Kerry Washington have been accredited for their natural pouts; men want to kiss them, and women want to have them. Kylie Jenner admitted she spends as much as 40 minutes per day working on her lips! Whether you have a full set of smackers or a sweet and small pair of kissers, there are a few ‘bad attention’ getters if you ignore minor details. source

Any pucker is far less pretty chapped and with hair on the upper lip. If you have the nasty habit of licking your lips, you probably experience a dry, chapped mouth reasonably often. To avoid this unappealing flakey look, use an over the counter lip scrub to remove any dead skin from your mouth and then apply a natural product such as ‘Burt’s Bees’ lip balm to soften the look and the feel. You’ll be smooch-able in 60 seconds flat.

If you’re wearing a bright-colored lipstick to draw attention to your mouth, consider the attention being drawn to everything in that vicinity. In natural sunlight with a magnifying mirror, look closely at the details around your mouth and if you notice just a couple of dark hairs, cut them short to the skin or remove them with a set of tweezers.

If you have more hairs than you can count on both hands, put those tweezers away, and consider electrolysis as a hair removal option. It will keep your upper lip smooth, hair-free, and make a difference in how you pucker your lips. Once this is done, put on that lipstick; the brighter, the better!

Speaking of hair, take the time to straighten or curl your hair every once in a while if it makes you feel good. If you think it brings out your features, adding curls can be fun and difference-making.

So your mouth is chap free and upper lip is hair-free, now all you’ve got to do is smile! One of the worst kinds of lousy attention received is for bad teeth, so if your once pearly whites are now a mother of pearl, it’s because, over many years, your teeth lost the natural luster they had when we were children. When we didn’t drink coffee; when we didn’t smoke cigarettes; when we brushed our teeth after eating curry or mustard.

The bad news: life itself will take its toll on our bodies, including our teeth. The good news: At least you can create the illusion of a great set of chops. If you’ve already decided that professional teeth whitening is not within your budget, consider the second-best option with an over the counter teeth whitening kit.

But don’t stop there; floss while you’re at it! Food has a funny way of staying in our teeth for hours, sometimes days, if we don’t physically go in there and pick it out. If you’ve eaten chicken Masala for dinner and fell straight to sleep without brushing or flossing, eventually, this sort of tooth neglect will turn a pretty smile into downright atrocious.

You have the cutest little button nose when you smile, but when you broke out that darn magnifying mirror, you saw a bunch of little dots and tiny holes. What the heck is that? Blackheads are holding small bits of puss that clog up your pores.

Paying a pretty penny once in a while for a facial might be well worth it but if you insist on doing it yourself the freeway, start by steaming your face with a warm cloth for a few minutes or by leaning over a heated pot of water. Your pores will open, and with a pair of clean hands, you can squeeze the little bulbs on your nose to let out the residue. Be careful not to pinch any actual ‘pimples,’ or you may do permanent damage to your skin and have something else to fuss about.

Brightening up your eyes with mascara, eyeliner, and eye shadow always looks great if done the right way, but there’s more to just prettying up the lids to create the ‘perfect’ eye. If a set of dark circles is staring back at you in the mirror, get ready to grab that concealer and dab a bit under each eye to even out your skin tone.

Before you think you’re done with all of the delicate facial points, look a little deeper into your eyes… a little deeper. An area many women forget to brighten is inside of their eyes. Lack of sleep, feeling under the weather, or one too many red wines can leave our eyes dull and pinkish, but by removing eye redness with Visene or another over the counter product, your eyes will be back to vibrant in a matter of minutes. In short, the first lesson in beauty101: Paying attention to minor details will make a significant difference, and you’re sure to attract the right kind of attention you want.
