Review: Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisturizer

Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisturizer

Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisturizer

Have you ever seen a moisturizer that smells so good you might end up eating the product? The ingredients are stated in the name ‘olive oil and ‘mango butter’. I first used the Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisturizer during my transitioning stage, it was the perfect product for sealing moisture into my dry, brittle, coarse hair. This product was recommended by a YouTube vlogger and yes I definitely had to try it.

The Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisturizer was my go to before I was introduced to the LOC method. It helps to keep my hair moisturize as it adds sheen and helps to prevent breakage. The Elasta QP Moisturizer has a thick consistency, it can be considered as a heavy moisturizer and if used correctly it will not weigh your hair down and a little goes a long way.

The smell is amazing and the product absorbs quickly into the hair. I applied a small amount to my hair at nights and tie down with a silk scarf to seal in the moisture. The next morning my hair is ready for styling. The Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisturizer can be used on dry and/or wet hair. It is also good for all hair types whether transitioning, perm, relaxed etc.

If your hair desires a ton of moisturizer and you are not good at retaining moisture doing the LOC method then I would highly recommend the Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Moisturizer.

How Does a Nail Color Make an Impact on Your Outfit

They say that women wear nail colors according to their mood and occasion. The real deal here the statement differs from female to female. It’s one of those ‘girl talks’ that remain within the knowledge and practice of women.

However, the trend of nail colors has long been introduced onto the face of the earth; mainly to add a texture of grace to their dress or just to add a decorative element to their getup. Achieving the perfect manicure and pedicure that goes well with the dress; is something that can be managed by a very few women.
Dressing is basically an art, and things like nail polishes and makeup adds on to the beauty of it. You have the benefit of wearing a subtle makeup look and it will turn out just fine if you apply a bold or bright Essie Bungle Jungle nail polish with it. Colors like Hollywood Blvd., Sunset Blvd., Paparazzi, by Lauren B., can be carried in a decent or funky manner. Try to add a little fun to your dress code by using the simple nail art techniques to further draw attention to your lovely nails.

Too much matching can seem moderately dull, and to be honest, it actually is a waste of time and money to use colors similar to every other clothes that you are wearing. The best way to apply nail color is to match it with your lipstick shade. The moment you begin preparing for your everyday outfit; you need to be aware of the color of nail polish that you want to apply; so that you don’t end up looking like a fashion disaster.
Most women are known to spend a great deal of time while trying to decide which color they want to apply, this is the kind of dedication that the cosmetic brands look for. The dark or light shade of the nail color solely depends on your persona. There is no limitation of colors and chances, but just don’t mix up the colors that look extremely odd together. There is a fine line between trying to opt for a bold approach and ending up looking like a total waste.
As an example, the shade Vanity Fair by Essie can be carried will definitely seem awkward with a bold makeup look; whereas, it will go great with subtle makeup and a light colored dress. On the other hand, nail colors like Wicked will look best with a gothic makeup or dressing style. But then again; it depends on your choice and persona; that is how you carry your makeup along with the nail color and the dress. The matchy-matchy color concept is now a thing of the past. Do not fall for the fancy boards that show you false images of looking fabulous with the same colors.

A little effort goes long way when it comes to fashion; which means that you can go from being a professional, to a completely funky, or from a casual approach to an ultra-dramatic approach. Another thing to take into account is the type of dress that you are planning to wear; is it printed or plain? If you do a bit of nail art while wearing a printed outfit; it will definitely turn out to be odd. Colorful nail art is not less than a disaster in itself.

    Embrace the Natural Hair

Embracing the natural hair has become much easier for naturals especially the kinky, curly, coily, coarse textured hair. In this era, there are hair products that are geared towards people of colour. While I was growing up we only had pink lotion, hair relaxer, black gel and hair oil (Blue Magic was the thing). Now we have a wide range of styling tools, products and brands to choose from.

Before some would kill to get their hair straight going back and forth to the salon every 6 weeks to get the natural hair roots relaxed since that’s where the new growth begins. Now natural hair has become a norm. We have found ways to embrace it by using styles such as twist out, high puff, flat twist, up do’s wash n go and methods to seal in moisture such as the loc method and/or lco method. I personally love the loc method. I do it every week after washing my hair and my hair stays moisturized for the entire week.

    Natural Hair The Trend

Natural hair has become ‘the trend’, if you want to know how to create a simple hairdo or looking for natural hairstyle ideas just watch a few YouTube channels and/or view images on Instagram to get a taste of the style you desire. I personally love to search for natural hair hashtags on Instagram. Doing this gives me an inspiration of a style that I would love to try in my own hair.
I admit natural hair can be hard to style, not easy to maintain but once we get the hang of it, styling and daily maintenance come with ease. I have seen naturals going from straight (relaxed) to transition, from a transition to big chop and back to the relaxer.  Then transitioning and/or big chop again because they are so undecided how they want to keep their hair and they end up missing their natural hair.

    Final Thoughts

I admire how these companies have created products to maintain our natural hair. One of the cons of some products are the number of flakes and build up that they leave the instant they touch the hair, also beware of product combination this is a huge killer. This will send you washing your hair again just after you have washed it.
I love to embrace my natural hair, the versatility of it always keeps me going.

My Braces Journey: Installment, Adjustment, Ligatures and Retainer

I have been contemplating on getting braces from I was about 16 years old. The first orthodontist that I had visited told me that I had to get braces on both top and bottom teeth. Unfortunately, I only wanted to get braces 😀 on my top teeth.

In early 2016 I decided that I should get my braces done. I visited the orthodontist along with my friend seeing that she had her braces installed. I did my free consultation and took pictures of my teeth so that the orthodontist can keep a record of my progress.

During this period I did not shop around, I just went ahead and began my progress. The orthodontist scheduled my braces appointment for April 12, 2016. I was overly anxious, so I watched a few videos on YouTube just to get an idea of the entire process. I anticipated the return of the Orthodontist in April in order to install my braces. In case anyone is interested, this is the orthodontic contact details that I went to:

    Boston Orthodontics
    Patricia L. Brown, D.M.D., M.P.H
    Front street #209,
    Sint Maarten, N.A.
    Tel: 1721-543-7995
First visit: Free Consultation and Pictures
    Cost: $100 (pictures)
The orthodontist checked my teeth, took pictures and recommended getting my teeth clean by a dentist prior braces installment.
    Second visit: Braces installment
Cost: $500 (first installment) + braces kit
Monthly braces appointment for tightening I will be paying $100 x 15 estimated months
On this very day, I took 1 million and one selfies because I knew that I was about to miss my ‘oh so beloved’ space teeth. I invited my friend to come along with me to the orthodontist while I get my braces installed.
Through a majority of the entire process I had to keep my eyes closed while my teeth were sand down, cemented and braces were being applied to the individual tooth. At one point my mouth got extremely dry since I had a smile maker and cotton stuffed inside of my mouth; this was enforced to prevent my teeth from getting wet so that the brackets stuck to teeth properly.

I had taken painkillers beforehand, so I did not feel any pain from the braces but I took a while to get used to wearing them.

Read how to floss while wearing braces

The orthodontist gave me a braces kit which included a travel size kit which included a travel size toothbrush, dental floss, floss threader, dental mirror, and orthodontic wax which I hardly use. The orthodontist also showed me a different technique of brushing with braces since I will have to clean the individual brackets and floss between them.
After I was done I went straight to eating and drinking. I was cleaning my teeth like crazy because I had food stuck all over my teeth.

Read how to keep mouth clean while wearing braces
Fourth visit: Changing Elastics and Tightening
    Cost: $200
It took approximately 3-4 months before my gap was closed. My orthodontist changed the archwire and gave me some fresh elastic ligatures (color ties).
Seventh visit: Changing ligatures and bottom retainer
    Cost: $200
So this time I notice that my gap is completely closed, my teeth don’t seem as big as how they had appeared before. They look a bit smaller as if I barely have teeth. My teeth are not protruded but a little straighter than how they had been before I got my braces installed.

On this trip, my orthodontist took the imprints of my teeth, so that she could be able to make the retainer for my bottom teeth. A soft pink bubblegum alike product was placed into my mouth to carve out the shape of my teeth. This was placed in my mouth until it became hard for about 5-8 mins. On my next visit to the orthodontist, I will receive my retainer that will help to close the small gaps on my bottom teeth. I am getting closer to getting my braces removed, just a few more months to go and I should have nicer, straighter teeth. Bye! Bye! Gap.

If you ever had braces, feel free to share your experience with me. If you are thinking of getting braces, also ask me any questions regarding getting braces that you would like to know.

    Tips for Walking in Heels

how to walk in high heels

We all love to look our best and by wearing heels it spruces up our entire outfit, doesn’t matter how simple our dressing is. I am a lover of shoes especially stiletto heels, flats, vintage shoes and sneakers. My current collection is growing and I don’t get to wear them all the time.

While I don’t wear heels exclusively, I do wear them on a regular basis like going to church, work, functions etc. I love to stock up on shoes especially when shopping online.

Tips to Walk in High Heels

I have compiled some easy tips that will help you get started in wearing that heel you admire.
    1. Practice! Practice! Practice! Around the house, until you get comfortable
    2. Don’t sacrifice cuteness for comfort. It doesn’t matter what kind of shoes you wear, you will never be cute walking like a baby deer.
    3. Start with wedges and when they become comfortable you can switch to lower heels until you are good enough to manage 5-inch heels.
    4. Chunky heels are more comfortable.
    5. Try platform shoes; the thicker the platform, the more inches it takes off the heel; therefore, the slant of your foot is not as steep.
    6. Wear flats if you’re still not getting the hang of it.
    7. Heel-toe practice: Get comfortable walking on tiptoes, then use a starter heel such as wedges or a thicker heel around 3-4 inches.
    8. Practice all the time, you can do this all the while even during cleaning.
    9. Take small steps and focus on your steps because you wouldn’t want to end up with a twisted ankle.
    10. Look for features that make heels more comfortable and stable, some heels are thinner than some, so you might find yourself wobbling while wearing.
I hope these tips came in convenient for you. If not, then maybe heels weren’t meant for you.
