You don’t have to go out and buy a whole new collection of clothes, although if that’s what you want to do, go ahead! You can easily update your workwear looks by adding a few new pieces and re-working what you already have. We’ve popped some ideas below on how to refresh your look and feel a little more inspired when you go to work.

Add some colour

Adding in some colour can help bring new life into your wardrobe. It’s easy to get into the habit of buying dark coloured pieces, especially when it comes to workwear. So, injecting a few pieces of colour or patterns might help to liven things up a little. You don’t have to go all out and buy a coloured suit, although there are some great options out there if you do want to be daring. You could start by adding some simple coloured camisoles, which  work well with tailored trousers (such as these ones here). You could also look at including some printed trousers or skirts to help introduce some patterns to your usual wardrobe. All easily paired with simple blouses and blazers, so you can mix and match to heart’s content.

Invest in some tailored pieces

It’s often said that you should dress for the job you want, not the one you have; so if you’re working towards a promotion or want to progress more generally then invest in some tailored pieces. A well-made, tailored suit will last you years and can be worn time and time again for many different occasions. There are some great choices out there, and you could opt for a slim legged trouser suit or a fitted pencil skirt with a tailored blazer. You can also mix and match the items, so think about investing in a few pieces to help you make the most of them with your current wardrobe. Having a suit that fits you well also helps you to feel more confident, which helps the next time you have a presentation to a client or take part in an important meeting.

Accessories

This is a simple way to update your wardrobe, but it works. If you’re getting a bit tired of some of your outfits, then try adding new accessories. It can often be the smaller things that people notice, so even subtle additions can help you feel inspired again. Adding a new belt to a dress or skirt allows you to play with the style and silhouette for some extra detailing on a budget. You could also try adding some new jewellery, such as statement necklaces over a plain t-shirt, which can help to add some new interest to a well-loved outfit. This could also be a good opportunity to invest in a new workwear bag, as this can help to refresh a lot of your outfits. Having a smart, structured work bag that can also fit your work laptop (if you need it to) is a great investment as it’s something that will last a long time. Opting for a classic colour allows you to make the most of it and wear it with a variety of your outfits.
