How are genital warts (HPV) contracted?
Through sex and skin-to-skin contact anyone can catch genital warts. The infection is skin-based and not fluid like. Using condoms only offer limited protection against the virus. Hundreds of different strains of the HPV exist all of which that slightly affects us by different things. Some HPV strains can be dangerous and lead to abnormal pap smears, cancer of the cervix, throat and other areas. Genital warts are the most common of STI’s and it can take up to three months to a year for symptoms to show up.
