How To Get Rid of Acne Scars

acne scars

Acne scars are usually caused by attempts to pop whiteheads or cysts. These types of breakouts are the most likely to scab over, get reopened and leave scars. While it is a good idea to use gentle products such as vegan face wash and try to keep zit squeezing and popping to a minimum, there are also ways to eliminate scars that you already have and minimize the appearance of new scar tissue. Here are three steps to reduce the appearance of acne scars.

1. Treat

Try to address any ongoing skin issues without causing further scarring. Use a gentle cleanser that will not strip moisture from skin followed by a moisturizer that is suitable for acne-prone skin and the best blemish oil. Depending on the oil level of your skin and your lifestyle, you may find it necessary to wash your face one or more times every day. Pay attention to the condition of your skin as your hormone levels fluctuate, and consider using organic essential PMS oil. Keeping your skin clean can help to reduce levels of acne-causing bacteria, but may not be enough to eliminate pre-existing scars.

2. Exfoliate

There are several ways to exfoliate your skin, including chemical and physical exfoliation. Chemical exfoliation involves ingredients such as acids that may be naturally sourced. Physical exfoliation is typically performed with a brush or another type of skincare tool. You should wait until any inflamed or infected blemishes have completely healed before attempting either exfoliation method. Breaking scabs again or keeping blemishes from healing can result in scars.

Anywhere from two weeks to a month of regular cleansing, moisturizing and skin treatments should be enough time for your skin to heal and adjust to a new routine. Once your skin is slightly less irritated, you should periodically remove dead skin cells and other debris and buildup from pores. This is also true of excess scar tissue that may form around healed pimples. Do not exfoliate more frequently than once a week, as these treatments can lead to irritation or cause skin to overproduce oil to compensate.

3. Even Out

As the condition of your skin improves with daily cleansing and weekly or bi-weekly exfoliation, scarring may become less noticeable. The only way to make this condition less visible is to even out the tone of your skin surrounding the scar. Some older or more severe scars may be darker in color than newer scar tissue. Specialized skincare treatments can help to reduce noticeable differences in color and texture between a scar and the surrounding skin. With the right treatments, you may be able to eliminate the appearance of scarring without the need for intensive cosmetic procedures.

It may be possible to eliminate even the most long-standing acne scars over time. Keep in mind that a single course of treatment may not completely eliminate the appearance of scarring. It may be necessary to shift your skincare routine to vegan face wash and other natural treatments for weeks or months before you notice a significant reduction in acne scarring.
