Which Compromises Are Acceptable for Your Wedding Day?

When you imagine your perfect wedding day, it’s unlikely that you imagine and fantasize about what compromises you could accept to enjoy it. An ideal wedding is a fairytale event where everything is perfect, the plans are easy to make, and no adjustments must be made.

Of course, most people know that this is just not how life goes. In fact, things are sometimes made more special by not being perfect. In Japanese, this principle is known as Kintsugi, where cracked ceramics are fixed with gold inlay, the beauty of them having been broken and restored is considered more valuable than a brand-new item.

In other words, it’s okay to make adjustments, because they allow you to make the wedding day more real. For example, if your dream wedding venue is fully booked for the next two years, that might be initially disappointing, but it doesn’t mean there won’t be other amazing venues that you hadn’t even considered.

It’s understandable, though, why you’d want to limit compromise as and when you can on your wedding day. However, if you learn where you’re happy to compromise, you’re also clearer on where you won’t make those adjustments, such as when planning the most beautiful luxury wedding. In this post, we’ll discuss how to identify the former:

The Guest List

It’s good to be flexible with the guest list. Of course, if you’d rather not have someone at your wedding, that’s absolutely your right. But let’s say your parent is funding a good portion of the event, and they want their friend to attend that you haven’t met before. It can be nice to give them that breathing room. A guest list can be negotiated before you send the invites, so there’s room to plan in advance.

Date & Time

Wedding days aren’t solely the dominion of the weekend, a mid-week wedding day can be just as worthwhile as anything other time. Or, you might even wish to go for a late afternoon service if it’s easier for you. On top of that, you may decide to simply enjoy the festivities and perhaps even just confirm your partnership alone with your partner, separate to the main occasion. A little flexibility to the date and time may help you secure the provisions you want, as they may otherwise be booked.

Choice Of Entertainment

You likely have family and friends at the event, and so it can be nice to bring in entertainment that everyone will enjoy. Keeping it simple such as by booking a fun live band, or perhaps a jazz quartet, or even a DJ can help you ensure everyone feels happy dancing after. Even if you and your partner are more into a specific niche of music, it can be nice to make sure the entertainment fits the general event you’re throwing. You’re sure to find something worthwhile with a little planning, and remember, you don’t have to accept any suggestion you’re unhappy with.

With this advice, you’re sure to compromise intelligently when planning your wedding day.
