You put a whole lot of effort into assembling your look. You trawl the fashion websites for the clothes that will cling to your curves while subtly detracting from the wobbly bits you may not be so proud of. You never leave the house without your brow game on point. Your hair is a cascade of shimmering glory that borders on the poetic. Your accessories are matched to your outfit with the precision that would make NASA blush and your shoes… entire anthologies could be written about your shoes.
Accessorizing has changed a lot over the last decade or so. We’ve gone from a world in which fashion gurus insisted that accessories had to match an outfit into one where it seems anything goes.
But is this true? While it’s true that true”matching” accessories are no longer required, it’s not true that accessories can go with anything that you wear. There are still style decisions to be made. Here we’re going to take a look at what some fashion gurus themselves have to say about contemporary accessorizing. Here’s their advice.
Never Allow Naked Wrists
If you want to look your best then – at least according to style expert Bridgette Raes – you need to wear more than one bracelet. She recommends wearing bracelets which come together in a set, but you can also go off-piste and wear any selection of bracelets from your jewelry collection. Mixing and matching bracelet you already own, she says, is just as valid as choosing a set from the store.
Wear Accessories, Even When The Weather Turns Cold
Wearing accessories, like jewelry in the summer is easy. The days are long, and the weather is warm, meaning that you can strip off and wear pretty much whatever you like. But what about when the weather’s cold and you’re all wrapped up in a giant jumper? What should you do then?
Style guru Raes says you can still wear beautiful accessories even when the weather is cold. Her advice is to pair a turtleneck with suede wedges or short boots. She recommends going with earthy hues to contrast with dark or blue winter garments.
She also suggests that women focus more on accessorizing the head area with jewelry, like earrings and necklaces, since just about everything else is covered up.
Pick Long NecklacesLong necklaces might look great on store jewelry displays, but should you wear them? According to Adam Glassman, a creative director at a big fashion house, the answer is definitely “yes.” Glassman says that long necklaces can make you feel better about yourself, as well as more confident. He says that the added length over the bust helps to elongate the body, making you look slimmer. Long necklaces, he says, also help you look taller by extending the distance between the bust and the neckline.
Don’t Let Jewelry Overpower Your Outfit
You want your jewelry to make a statement. But sometimes, jewelry can make so much of a statement that it overwhelms the rest of your outfit.
The problem usually comes, according to Kristina Moore of a popular fashion blog, when women buy matching sets of jewelry from the store. Matching sets are ideal for making sure that your outfit comes together, and they make it super easy to build up a jewelry collection that you can just throw on at a moment’s notice. But many matching sets are quite overpowering. Not only do they have busy designs and large stones, but they can also make it appear as if too much is going on with your clothing.
So what can you do about it? Ideally, if you’re wearing a statement outfit, keep the jewelry to a minimum. You want to wear accessories that complement your outfit, not compete with it. If, however you’re going down the plain Jane route, then you ought to take you accessorizing up a notch.
Use Jeans As A Base
Many of us wear jeans every day but surprisingly; according to the gurus that’s not the problem. Wearing jeans every day is fine: wearing them with the same accessories is a big no-no.
So what can you do to mix it up a little? Bobby Schuller is an advisor to the website WhoWhatWear. He says that women should try to pair their favorite jeans with interesting accessories, like pointed-toe pumps, or heels with wedges. It’s fine wearing jeans, he says, but just leave your sneakers at home in the closet where they belong
Avoid Being Too Matching
In the past, accessorizing was easy. All you had to do as find accessories that matched each other and your outfit, and you were home and dry. But that all began to change when highly matched outfits started being associated with OCD. Now matching outfits are viewed as humorous, rather than something you’d want to wear out in public or at the office.According to Courtney Hammond, a fashion expert in Georgia, it’s acceptable to mix and match colors and styles. A leopard print bag, with a block color or nude heels, is perfectly acceptable in her book.
There is one thing every woman should know, and that’s how to match accessories with outfits. Quite simply, a humble piece of jewelry can take an outfit to another level with hardly any effort. For ladies who like to look the part at all times, this is an essential feature to exploit.
But, accessorizing isn’t as easy as throwing on a few pieces of jewelry and hoping all goes well. It is a skill that needs learning as the occasion dictates what a woman should wear.
If you don’t know how to accessorize for different occasions, you have come to the right place. This is the only go-to guide you will ever need.
The Signature Look
There are times when a girl just wants to get noticed. Don’t think that admitting this makes you a bad person – it doesn’t. It makes you human because we all like attention from time to time. With the right pieces, you can turn every head on the street as you walk past. Name Necklace Official has an excellent range of name necklaces, while H&M has lots of autumn hats. Both of these accessories will stand out from the crowd, but they won’t look tacky or gaudy.
The Casual Look
Let’s face it – most of our time is spent doing menial tasks. They might be necessary, but they don’t require us to wow as soon as we walk in the room. Plus, the casual look is comfortable, and that is something all women love. Therefore, the accessories shouldn’t be too bold or over the top. Also, they don’t need to bring down the comfort levels. As a rule, everything should supplement the style and offset the main features. For example, stud earrings and dainty rings work perfectly with jeans and a sweater.
The Workplace Look
Probably the hardest one to get right, the workplace look is something which intimidates lots of women. The reason it’s difficult is down to the fact that the balance has to be perfect. You can’t be too casual as it comes across as unprofessional, but you can’t overdress as your coworkers will make judgments. The key is to be stylish and serious at the same time. To do this, forget about jewelry and focus on the basics. Do you wear glasses? If you do, a smart pair can be practical, stylish and sexy all in one. With a pencil skirt or a pantsuit, a pair of glasses hit the nail on the head.
The Wedding Look
Summer is wedding season, but that doesn’t stop people from getting married. A wedding can be at any time of the year, and you have to be ready to wow. Again, this is not easy because you can’t take the emphasis from the bride. She’s the star of the show and you’re there to show support. Still, with signature pieces, you can turn heads, too. Diamonds, if you have any, are the way forward, as is a wedding hat, a brooch, and a corsage. For an ultimate effect, combine them all.
The next time you leave the house, you never have to worry about how you look.
We don’t like to think about it too much, but somewhere in the back of our minds, we know we’re causing harm to the world. A cheap, but stylish blouse that makes us feel amazing was likely made by a poor girl in a factory with appalling conditions. As we become more conscious about our purchases; we have the power to change the industry for the better, and force manufacturers to change their working conditions. One way to do this is by giving our money to companies that enforce responsible and safe conditions for their workers and still generate high-quality products. Here are just a few ways you can be a more conscientious shopper, while still looking fabulous when you walk down the street.
Read the labels
You don’t have to be a full-on vegan to care about the animals that make your clothes. Real leather and suede are made from the skin and hides of animals. Fur is taken from animals raised or trapped specifically for their coats. Even silk is problematic; it’s made from a fiber that is naturally secreted by silkworms, but sometimes the worms are boiled alive to extract extra amounts of silk to meet demand. Fortunately, you don’t have to shop in specialty stores to make sure your clothes are cruelty-free. All you have to do is read the label. The next time you’re shopping for a new blouse, there will be information on the label telling you whether it’s made from 100 percent polyester, or if it contains 35 percent wool.
Fashion trends rise and fall every year, and while some older fashions are put out in the bargain bin for you to buy at incredible discounts, some things end up in the bin and eventually contribute to ever-growing tips. Sunglasses, for example, change style from year to year, but the materials aren’t biodegradable, which means they’re going to lie on those rubbish piles for years to come. Fortunately, some conscientious designers have created bamboo sunglasses, which means that they will be made from a sustainable material that requires far fewer resources to grow than wood or synthetic materials like plastic. Bamboo grows faster than other sources and requires very minimal maintenance, so it is the cheapest and most responsible option by far. The only way to get the fashion industry to adjust their policies to incorporate bamboo and other environmentally friendly resources is by giving your money to companies that already have these policies in place.
It’s great when you start making your shopping more cruelty-free. There is even a growing market for vegetarian and vegan shoes, so choosing between durable shoes and being cruelty-free might soon be a thing of the past, and all boots will be made for walking.
Finally, you don’t have to go far to be a responsible clothes shopper. Mango, Zara, H&M, and Topshop are great examples of stores that make cruelty free and ethical clothing, proving that responsible choices are affordable and accessible.
- It’s kind of sad to think that the summer is coming to an end. The temperatures will soon start to drop and the nights will draw in quicker. But while the shorts and summer dresses get packed away, the little black dress and heels come out as we welcome party season! Most retailers have already started to stock party shoes, dresses and accessories and you’ll find plenty of choice in a range of styles. If you’re as excited as I am, check out all my favourite trends ahead of the season…

Something sparklyAs you’d expect, there will be plenty of sparkles this winter. Shimmering gold and silver dresses are everywhere. They are all styled differently but are all eye-wateringly shiny. Naturally, it is not a look that will appeal to everyone, but an awful lot of us will give these exciting fabrics a go.
Naturally, if you have a glittery dress you need a pair of shiny shoes to go with them. Dressy patent leather court shoes in gold or silver are everywhere. Diamante open-toed shoes are also widely available. If you are not keen on shiny footwear, do not worry because velvet will also be a head-turner at parties too across the Christmas period.
For the ultimate bang, look for a pair of Disco ball boots. Versions of these crazy glittering knee-length boots have been cropping up on catwalks, across the world, over the past few weeks. It’s a trend that’s brave, but it’s also bold and beautiful.
Little black dresses with a twist
As ever, the little black dress is going to be a party favourite. Highly tailored, mid-length or long dresses are set to be big this year, with the possibility that velvet will start to make a bit of a comeback. This comfortable, flexible fabric is fantastic for dance Divas. They really enjoy the freedom of movement that velvet offers.
One of the oddest trends is the incorporation of what is normally considered staid fabrics into party dresses. Stella McCartney has led the way in showing how combining different traditional tweeds and tartans to create striking dresses that could turn heads at the office party. It is too early to say if this interesting design idea will be taken up by High Street retailers, though. If you see one, try it on. It is a look that has the potential to work for all body types and one that will certainly turn heads.
If dresses are not your favourite option for a party, do not worry. Most fashion designers have opted to include trousers in their partywear ranges this year. A pair of baggy-legged black trousers will look great paired with a wide belt and a shiny fitted top. The best thing about this party outfit is that you can get away with wearing black baseball boots. So, you can dance all night without worrying about waking up with feet that are covered in blisters.
Picking your perfect party outfitAs you can see, you really are spoilt for choice. The designers have come up with something for everyone. However, if you would like a bit more guidance about buying an outfit for a party, you can find it here.

- Congratulations on your decision to purchase your very first luxury watch. Many people reward themselves with luxury items as a result of accomplishing a long-term goal or landing a high paying job. Choosing your first luxury watch is something that you should take your time with.
Here’s a guide to buying a quality luxury watch that may not be your last but could become your absolute favourite purchase.
1. Which Watch Should I Buy?
There are several well known luxury watchmakers that manufacture quality timepieces that are distinguished as well as highly functional. Many people opt to buy a Swiss model, as they’re known for their high-quality craftsmanship and striking designs. However, the best Swiss watch for the first time buyer could be a Longines model or a Breitling – it’s all down to personal taste (more on this below).
Workmanship is a big factor that first time luxury watch buyers shouldn’t overlook. Another feature that you want to think about is versatility as your luxury watch should be capable of being worn every day. You can learn more about the choices available, and browse the various designs at Chronoexpert.
2. If You Could Only Own One Watch…
If you are buying your first luxury watch, you should pick one that feels naturally comfortable on your wrist. High-quality watchmakers are obsessed with producing watches that look and function exceptionally well. You may want to try on different luxury watches so you can feel the way they fit on your wrist and take a look in the mirror to see how their design compliments your build. When you only own one watch from a luxury designer, consider where you will be wearing it most frequently.
3. The First Luxury Watch to Buy
The first luxury watch you buy should be an unrestricted splurge that you make for yourself. This is not to say that you need to try and break the bank on your first luxury watch purchase, but you should be more concerned about style, function, and longevity than catching something on sale that happens to be made by a designer watchmaker. Your first luxury watch needs to have a lengthy warranty, if not a lifetime warranty, so you can just get it fixed or replaced should it ever get damaged. The first designer watch you buy also needs to work with your current lifestyle.
4. The Best Swiss Watch for First Time Buyers
Swiss watches didn’t fall into popularity because of where they are manufactured. Instead, Swiss watchmakers gained popularity with buyers due to their incredible smart designs and durability. That doesn’t mean they all look the same, though. There are dozens of luxury Swiss watch brands, and each has its own style and features that make it unique.
5. What Makes a Watch Luxury?
A luxury watch isn’t named so because of the price tag. In actual fact, you can tell that a watch is a luxury just by looking at it. Luxury watches are only available from companies that place a huge emphasis on quality and design. Sometimes you might see an expensive wristwatch and assume that it is a part of a luxury brand, but that’s just not the case. When you see a watch that is high quality and on the pricier side, see what company it comes from to learn if it is a luxury good.
6. What Does Your Luxury Watch Say About You?
When you get your first luxury watch and your friends see you wearing it, their reaction should be noteworthy. From being asked questions about where you purchased it; to ask about the price, your luxury watch should make you look and feel more sophisticated. Luxury watches come with a number of features, and it’s believed that you can learn about someone’s personality just by looking at their watch.
The more simple designs portray an elegant and refined personality, the bulkier sports and diving watches suggest an active lifestyle, and the watches that feature alarms and stopwatch features suggest the owner is someone who enjoys a busy lifestyle.
Getting your first luxury watch should be about rewarding yourself for working hard and being tenacious. Your entire wardrobe doesn’t have to be made up of luxury items and your new luxury watch may be the only luxury item that you own for a good, long time. Keep up the hard work and have your new luxury watch serviced as necessary so it will become a timeless piece. Whether you wear it every day for several years or only hang it from your wrist when you want to jazz up your look, a luxury watch is a must have accessory.
A timepiece is an essential accessory that enhances one’s personality and adds more charm to your outfit. It contributes a lot to your impression on people. There are a number of leading brands that deal with men watches and women watches. Watches are usually worn as a mark of punctuality or need but they are no less than a style statement. However, in this modern era of technology and digital devices that provide you with all the sources of information including time. People are less likely to wear watches. Having said that, below are the four reasons why watches are still a necessity as well as a luxury and you must immediately consider wearing them.
Watch – A Symbol of PunctualityWearing a watch implies that you’re a punctual being and that you value time. Having a timepiece tied to your wrist tells so much about your priorities and your respect towards time. As studies show, ‘’watches wearers are more conscientious and punctual than non-wearers.’’
An Addition to Your Fashion StatementWristwatches are believed to have taken over the fashion industries. From a need for battlefields to a fashion accessory. Your taste in watches can completely define your fashion sense and your formal or casual attire. Thus, your selection of watches can make your personality stand out.Luxurious watches are a sign of one’s social status. An iconic or limited edition rare timepiece is a precious stone in your prominent personality. A classy expensive Armani watch on a wrist is a showcase of prestige and social status.
Watches bring Professionalism and Convenience
Whether you wear a suit or anything else less formal you’re going to need a watch on your wrist every time; in order to stay attentive and organized about your schedule. Moreover, a watch is more of a subtle to check time; for they are convenient other than pulling out your smartphone and getting distracted (Sigh!).
Hopefully, above reasons have convinced you enough to get your hands on a brand new watch according to your style and favorite aesthetics. Go buy one and finish your look!
The term “custom jewellery design” makes the entire process of purchasing jewellery very demanding. Most of the people neither understand this term nor how easy it is for an individual to select the right kind of custom jewellery. One of the main reason why people are confused with this term is the misconception that a custom jewellery design is very expensive. There are many jewellery providers in the market who can supply a custom jewellery design at a very affordable rate.
Some of the factors that play a key role when an individual is looking to purchase a custom jewellery design are:
Getting Clarity on What is RequiredThere are some custom jewellery design providers who help the customers in discovering what they might like and then help them in putting the entire design together for that particular customer. Every type of jewellery design is made up of many parts. Hence, it is very important for the customer to understand the different parts before moving ahead with the selection.
Can Changes Be Made to the Design of the Jewellery?
Usually, the most experienced and best custom jewellery providers ensure that the customer can change the designs during the process of making the jewellery. This ensures that the entire process of making the jewellery can be custom fitted with the likes and dislikes of the customer.
Do the Custom Jewellery Providers Limit the Choice of Designs? There are a number of custom jewellery design providers in the market. Some may be experienced while the others inexperienced. It is very common for the inexperienced ones to usually limit the number of custom designs offered to customers. This is probably because they don’t have the capacity to accommodate every request made by an individual customer. On the other side, the experienced jewellery providers are able to accommodate the request made by each customer. So, it is very important for the customer to find the right kind of experienced jewellery provider; in order to ensure that they are able to pick the most versatile jewellery designer in the market.
How Redesigning Jewellery Can Be Used to Make the Custom Design Unique?
In the name of custom jewellery design, some people are satisfied with the idea of fitting the existing gems, platinum, or gold in their old jewellery. Gems can be either added or removed from the jewellery to make the design look grand. Also, the jewellery can be designed in such a way that the stones can be retrofitted with gems suited for the occasion. Overall the primary reason why people go for redesigning is that it saves money and a lot of time which usually goes into creating a new design from scratch.
Incorporating A Wax Model in The Process of Making the Jewellery
A wax model is usually made in the process of making custom jewellery designs. First, the jewellery is created in wax and is inserted into a mold of plaster. After this, the mold made of plaster is heated till the wax comes out, which in turn creates room for either gold or other types of metal to be poured into the void. After all this, the plaster breaks and the jewellery are created. This process is called the lost wax jewellery process.Typically, a custom jewellery design is a much better option than a mass-produced item. Usually, the custom jewellery providers ensure that they have the best jewellery designers; bench jewelers and gemologists who collaborate with each other to provide the best design to their customers. Also, custom jewellery design creators usually use noble metal that is pure.
- If you are somewhat of a fashionista, you will want to make sure that every outfit is on point. Not content with slumming it in your tracksuit bottoms, you will be keen to look your best at all times and looking expensive can help you achieve this. Here we take a look at just some of the ways that you can turn a bargain basement buy into a catwalk classic.
1. Always make sure that your hair and makeup is well done and appropriate. For instance, if you are traveling courtesy of private jet charters you really should be making an extra effort. There is something appealing about a woman with sleek, shiny hair and fresh, dewy makeup. Invest time in your skincare routine after all clear, healthy skin is the first step to beauty.
2. Wear nudes. Nude tones exude a certain kind of elegance especially when worn head to toe. There are many nudes on the high street, so you are sure to find one that suits your skin tone.Choose them in plush fabrics for an extra injection of class.
3. Keep it simple and stick to the modelesque uniform of a simple white tee paired with blue jeans and a great blazer.
4. Invest in a brand. Granted, you probably can’t afford that Balmain blazer just yet, but you can still invest in a brand in a small way. A well-chosen accessory can transform your high street outfit to high-end status in one easy step. So whether it be a Gucci belt, a Hermes twilly or some Celine sunnies, make sure you use your little piece of luxury to its full potential.
5. Wear one colour. When you see women dressed in one colour from head to toe; you get an instant impression of elegance and luxury. Choose white, black or even double denim, and you will exude a classy, put together vibe, that could have cost thousands!
6. Roll neck jumpers are the epitome of elegance during the colder months. Team them with smart jeans or tailored trousers for a chic, understated style.
7. Wear a red lip. Although we have seen how pared back; natural makeup can give off the right impression so too can a bold red lip. Experiment to find your perfect shade and team it with a chic black blazer for a winning combination.
8. Whatever you are planning to wear, make sure that you take the time to prepare your outfit. A freshly ironed shirt and clean, polished shoes lay the ideal foundations.
Finally, if you want to look expensive all the time, you need to consider carefully how to spend your hard earned cash. Instead of buying large volumes of cheap, throw away fashion, save your money and buy fewer investment pieces. They will instantly lift your outfit, whatever it cost. Choose a really good coat or bag and always opt for classic styles and neutral colours that won’t go out of style anytime soon.

Create a PortfolioPutting a portfolio or presentation together with all your ideas and designs is important. If you learn nothing else this year, make sure you spend time working out the best ways to present new concepts. You might even be asked to reinvent or restyle more traditional fashion ideas. This level of creativity can be hard to maintain over time, so look at websites like https://www.craftsy.com/blog/2013/09/creating-a-fashion-portfolio/that can help stimulate that creative genius inside you.
People skills are enormously important in any creative industry. When you have such a strong passion for fashion, you might spend a lot of time browsing magazines and web pages. Practice talking aloud about your thoughts and opinions on what you see. Communication skills are essential because sometimes you simply can’t demonstrate or visually show an idea or concept. Of course, if you have strong drawing or sketching abilities, this can be really helpful too.
Some say working a job takes the love and passion out of your favorite pastime if they are too closely related. True passion is hungry to spend every waking moment contemplating, creating, and learning more and more about it. There will be times when you need a break, of course. So is your passion for fashion strong enough to build a successful career?
