Protect your Eyes from Blue Light

When buying a gadget first thing that comes to mind in getting accessory is a screen protector. Using a screen protector does not only protects against physical damage, it also protects the eye from blue light. As a blogger, I am mostly sitting at my desk around a computer and/or on my smartphone device checking emails, creating articles and so much more. I also do online schooling where I am actively using a computer for more than 40 hrs per week. At most times I try to adjust the light setting for the time of day whether it is morning or night. With a blue light filter for laptop screen, it can protect the eyes from long-term vision deterioration.

What is Blue Light?

Blue light is natural and artificial. As according to Blue Light Exposed blue light can be found anywhere. Some sources of blue light include the sun, digital screens, fluorescent and led lighting. If you want to know more about blue light read here.

Blue light puts a strain on the eyes due to having a shorter wavelength. The deeper it gets, it kills the retina in our eyes with its high energy visible radiation. This can result in blurry vision, tired eyes and permanent eye damage.

How can I protect myself from Blue Light?

  • Make use of anti-blue light glasses
  • Use a blue light filter for laptop/computer screens
  • Blue light screen protector for mobile devices
  • It is also recommended to cut back on the usage of electronics at least 2 hours before bed
  • The 20-20-20 rule states when using digital devices blink away from the screen at least every 20 minutes while staring at least 20 feet away for 20 seconds or more.

In modern society, a majority can be seen with a smart device from toddlers to adults. One method of helping kids to cut back on usage of the electronic device is by controlling the battery usage for the day. Most tablets do not last a full day when the charge is diminished for the day; it is time to put away the tablet and recharge for another day.

Conclusion

We all need to take precautions against blue light damages to our eye sights. Whether we spend hours behind a computer screen, handheld mobile devices or simply walking in the sun. Blue light harms each one of us.

Use the simple techniques mentioned above to protect your eyes from permanent damages caused by blue light. A smartphone can be easily bought at the shop but not our eyes, so protect them from the blue light on the job with a blue light filter.
