ColourPop: It’s Vintage Lip Collection, Paradox Eye Shadow Swatch and Review

So I have been following the ColourPop trend for a while but only now I have decided to make my first official purchase. First off I must say, when you are addicted to makeup, you become a product junkie, so in return you will want to collect a bunch of beauty products and you might want to buy every new collection on the market, some you might not even finish to the bottom before the expiration date. Anyhow I decided to start with the mini kit since I have so much lipsticks in my collection that are not even half used. By doing this I still get to try the product and I end up spending less for minis than paying for the full sized product. My first ColourPop product actually came in my ipsy glam bag.

On my first purchase I bought the It’s Vintage Mini Ultra Matte Lip Collection and an eye shadow in the shade Paradox. Up on arrival I opened the box that the products were shipped in to be greeted with a sweet welcome card complimenting my taste on my choice of products and a booklet filled with details of ColourPop products (lippie stix, lippie pencil, brow pencil, etc.) and types (sheer, matte, metallic, glossy, créme etc.) how to use them, tips and tricks which can be useful for makeup newbies.

The It’s Vintage Mini Ultra Matte Lip Collection Price $18
The mini set has five different shades that has a vibrant intense colour with a bold, ultra matte finish. The names of the colours are:
    • Bianca – a true nude shade that appears as a nude pink when swatched.
    • Tulle – dusty burgundy shade
    • Notion – deepened raspberry shade
    • Love Bug – rich mahogany shade
    • LAX – vampy brown red shade

These deep dark shades are fit for the fall season. They apply wet but dries to a very matte finish. For the best application, apply over moisten lips. Do not use these if your lips are dry and chapped.

ColourPop Eye Shadow Paradox Super Slock Shadow (satin) Price $5
This is a deep (burgundy) red shadow that feels super soft to the touch and glides on to skin easily. It comes in a white pot that has a clear lid covering and ColourPop labeled on top. The container pot contains 2.1 gr / 0.07 oz of product, the pan is actually shallow than what it looks like from seeing the packaging. The shadow is easy to blend. The texture is cream to powder which can be dried out easily, making the product get hard and not so nice and creamy if the lid is not sealed on properly. The packaging is bulky and the product is not good for depotting. I gravitated towards the shade Paradox after seeing a picture of it on Instagram.

A single pot of ColourPop eyeshadow retails for $5, the quads cost $18 and the special sets with 6 shadows cost $25.

I am happy with my purchase. ColourPop cosmetics are inexpensive and the quality of the product is long lasting.

Which ColourPop product have you picked up lately? Which shade is your favorite? What are your ColourPop must haves?

    Makeup Eraser Review

    makeup eraser

    What is The Makeup Eraser

The makeup eraser is a reusable micro-fiber soft cloth that removes makeup with the use of only warm water. The makeup eraser measures 7″ wide and 16″ inches long. It has a two-sided flannel that has short fibers on one side to remove makeup and the longer fibers that should be used for gentle exfoliation.

It is free from chemical and all you need to do is to soak the micro-fiber soft cloth in warm water, squeeze out the excess of the water and use it to remove makeup from your face. I have decided that it is time for me to find other alternatives for makeup wipes so that I don’t have to be repurchasing monthly or running out of makeup remover since I wear makeup on a regular basis.

This makeup eraser has come in very handy for me since it is more efficient than using makeup wipes and it is reusable. This helps to remove my makeup and leaving my skin clean while the makeup wipes do not necessarily remove everything and I have to use more than one wipes to get the excess amount of product off the skin.

    Makeup Eraser Review

I wear a full face of makeup 5-6 days of the week using products like foundation, primer, concealer, lipstick etc. What I do is get the makeup eraser damped in warm water and squeeze the excess amount of the water from it then I proceed to remove the makeup from my face. After using the makeup eraser there weren’t any traces of makeup residue on my skin. For some nights I would follow up with a toner and wash my face thoroughly with soap or face wash while other nights after using the makeup eraser I would skip those steps. This makeup eraser is also great for exfoliating dead cells from the lips, after using it to remove lipstick from my lips my lips are often times left smooth without a trace of crack.

The makeup eraser has become a part of my daily makeup routine. It works for removing even the most stubborn waterproof mascara and lip stain. It is gentle on the skin especially the eye area. I have experienced a little bit of shedding from the cloth while using it to remove my makeup which can be annoying and makes me irritable since it leaves small fur pieces of the cloth on my face.

    When to Wash Makeup Eraser

After each use, I would hand wash it and hang it to dry for use the following day. It is best to air dry the makeup eraser after each use. This will prevent it from gathering a foul moldy scent or mildew. The micro-fiber cloth shows no signs of stain. The product residue washes from the cloth easily after usage.

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick Review

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick

The Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipstick provides the shine of a gloss and the staying power of a lip stain. It comes in a squeeze tube with a velvety sponge tip applicator that dispenses product in little beads when the tube is being squeezed.

It provides a cushion like transfer to lips while absorbing excess product to get an even coverage. The precision tip eliminates the use of a lip liner which makes this formula easier to apply. The Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipsticks are intensely pigmented, opaque and smooth on the lips.
    It is formulated without:
    • Parabens
    • Sulfates
    • Phthalates
    Too Faced Melted Peony
Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Peony is described as a ‘Dusty Rose’ a light medium muted pink with subtle warm undertones and a satin finish.

    Too Faced Melted Peony Swatched
This shade does not suite me and I don’t think it gives that long wear that it claims, especially since it’s not a matte finish it will rub off as you eat and drink. It felt a little drying on lips but it is not drying neither moisturizing. Application was smooth with the sponge applicator and I would still use a lip liner to prevent it from bleeding. It does not provide the lip stain that I would even go for.

    Lip Monthly August 2014 Review

    August Lip Monthly Bag

I have received my second lip monthly subscription and I am not too excited about the products that I have received. They have changed the packaging of the products from the small box to an imprint lip monthly cosmetic bag. The bag is quiet huge for all the 5 products that was enclosed for the month of August.

What I like about lip monthly, when selecting lip products other than giving a variety of colors they close match the shades and mix up the contents of the bag with lipsticks, lip balms, lip tints etc. I hope Lip Monthly improve over time. Being a subscriber to Lip Monthly I would like to see a mixture of different brands and not brands repeating itself in every months bag.

    Lip Monthly Info. Card
The Information Card included in the bag was themed Lips 101. Lip monthly also stated about there brand new shop that is available on the Lip Monthly website. One can now purchase products from Lip Monthly and refer friends to earn points that can be used in the store.

City Color Cosmetics – Magic Balm

City Color Cosmetics – Magic Balm

This lip balm appears as light pink when applied to lips. I have always loved magic balm but this is my first time trying this lip balm brand.

City Color Cosmetics – Be Matte Lipstick – Colour: Phoebe

City Color Cosmetics – Be Matte Lipstick – Colour: Phoebe
    Retail: $3.99
I love this matte lipstick, it does not dry out my lips and I like applying without lip balm.

    Pixi by Petra

Monthly Mix Up – Pixi by Petra – Lid Last Shadow Pen
    Retail: $18
I’m not too feeling this gold colour but I’m sure this lid shadow pen can be used as an eye primer.

Did you like the new designed bag?

Ipsy Glam Bag July 2014 Review

I always enjoy receiving my monthly glam bags and finding the sneak peeks for the coming month glam bag. I received my tracking info. on a different date than the usual, luckily my glam bag was already shipped and close to being delivered. I was slightly disappointed when my glam room went up and I saw tanning oil in my glam room since I have no use for tanners, anyways I was hoping that I would get the Elizabeth Mott Tints & Sass fabulous lip + cheek stain and I totally did. By far it’s my favorite product in this July glam bag.

The theme for July’s glam bag is Sensationally Sunkissed, items included would prep any Ipster for the summer season.

    Ipsy Theme Card

Every subscriber received 5 products and they were placed in a cute pink scallop trim leather looking bag.

    Ipsy July Glam Bag

My bag consisted of 5 products that suites the summer season:

bareMinerals 5 in 1 BB advanced performance cream eyeshadow (Broad Spectrum SPF 15)
I received this in the shade divine wine, it is very creamy and when applied it dries to a matte shimmery finish and it doesn’t smudge once it’s dried up properly. It has a long lasting staying power and it can be used to help prevent sunburn.

    bareMinerals 5in1

bareMinerals 5in1 BB advanced performance cream eyeshadow

    Swatches

Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 08
I don’t tan therefore I don’t have any use for tanning oil on my skin but I have heard that it has other benefits and it can be used in the hair and also as a shaving oil. Since I hate using razors on my skin I might just use this product in my hair and wait on the outcome of the results that I will be achieving.

Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 08

    benefit they’re Real! beyond mascara
This mascara is not new to me, I have being using it for quiet awhile now and I love how it makes my lashes look full and longer. The only problem I have is applying it on my lower lashes. The design of the brush makes it difficult to reach the lower lashes and gives it the desired definition. It does not make your lash clumpy or flaky.

Lavilin Jojoba Skin Soother Gel Cream
The benefits of this product is to sooth and restore the natural luster of the skin for e.g if you have itchy or dry skin it can help to soften and hydrate the area. It is also works on sunburns/over exposure to the sun  and it is suitable to be used in intimate areas. Best uses: place it in the fridge to get cool then apply to desired area.

Lavilin Jojoba Skin Soother Gel Cream

Elizabeth Mott Tints & Sass fabulous lip + cheek stain
I fell in love with this lip + cheek stain from the first time I saw it. The formula is liquid like that is not too thick or too thin. I preferably use it as a lip tint than a cheek stain and I like how it makes my lips has this red cherry look and it goes good with brown colours and it can also be worn under your favorite lipstick.

Even though I did not enjoy the full usage of products I received in my ipsy glam bag, I would still recommend it to a friend. There is a good chance that you might find a product that you can fall in love with and for just $10 monthly it is well worth trying. Sign up to be apart of the monthly subscription here: http://www.ipsy.com/r/192n
