How to Make Your Foundation Last

Chances are you wear foundation because you want a coverage that will last until you are ready to take it off. Here is how to make sure it stays put.

Build your base.
Never skip moisturizer! Moisturizing is important since foundation collects on dry areas, so it is effective to choose a lightweight lotion that will absorb completely into the skin. After applying give it 2-5 minutes to sink in, then apply primer. Some formulas can be too smooth and the foundation tends to slide off. It is best to find a primer that is slightly tacky even after it dries.

Use your liquid assets.
I get the best result from Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. Powder makes a dry, cakey mess and creams sometimes look heavy and will settle into fine lines. Anything too sheer will just not last long especially if you have acne marks/hyper-pigmentation.

Start with less
Full coverage foundation last way longer and looks better when you use less. I apply thin layers with a stippling brush then blend with a buffer brush. Start with a dot on the forehead, one on each cheek and the chin, then use a buffing brush to buff it out over the entire face and neck. For blemishes stipple another layer of foundation to cover.

Powder sparingly
I love using powder to set my foundation but it can change the color of already applied foundation and also settle into creases. Translucent powder applied over foundation can make the shade stay true, but I go for a powder that will also match my foundation to keep me looking matte all day.
