Air Purifier: How It Keeps Your Family and Home Safe

Finding a large room air purifier is more than knowing that your environment at home will be free from elements that may hamper your family’s health. It is more than air purification or cleaning. Before you jump into buying any purifier on the market, it is imperative to learn how air purifier works.

By doing so, selecting the right product will be much easier. Besides, who would want to waste investment in a product that does not even work?

Purpose of Air Purifiers for Home

You may already be looking for a whole house air purifierto buy, but found it confusing. This is likely because you do not have much idea about the appliance. Basically, the appliance has the purpose of getting rid of substances in your indoor air, such as bacteria, viruses, pet dander, and dirt among others.

Through this mechanism, your loved ones who are asthmatic or allergic to certain contaminants will be protected. At present, air purifiers are also designed to reduce the hazards of second-hand smoking.

Reason to Use an Air Purifier at Home

There are tons of reasons why you should consider buying an air purifier for your family and home. Apart from its main purpose of cleaning indoor air and removing impurities related to various ailments, given below are justifications to why it is a must-have appliance:

Future Protection. Other families do not consider buying an air purifier for they claim no one is sick in their homes. Nonetheless, have you ever thought of how long before second-hand smoke effects kick in? If you do not want to suffer in the end, you should expose your family to a healthier living without any loophole for airborne diseases.

Home Air Pollution. Surprising it may be, but the outdoor air is sometimes more polluted than the air peripheral to your place. This may be due to the enclosure, causing particles, bacteria, and chemicals to accumulate and regenerate throughout your home.

This is possible if you have a trailer, apartment, or a room staying in. According to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), there are dwellings that are two to 100 times more polluted than outdoor air.

Widespread Dangerous Pollutants. You can find a lot of pollutants even in your room alone. Hazardous elements in your bedroom include mold, pet dander, pollen, cleaning gases, cosmetics, fungi, viruses, and plastics among others.

What more if the place you are staying in has been exposed to asbestos particles?

Family Protection. Whether you are starting or taking care of an existing family, it has always been advised by doctors to keep chemical exposure low. For instance, if you are pregnant, you should clean your air at home to avoid contact with cancer-causing toxins. Alternatively, if you have children, their bodies are weaker than adults. Thus, you must not trigger airborne diseases in their bodies.

Diseases Management. If you are already suffering from allergies, asthma, or respiratory issues, there is nothing better than managing your problem through purifying air quality. Your system has already been compromised, and things could get worse if you keep on inhaling gas odors, chemicals, and pollutants among others.

Different Types of Air Purifiers Available

There are various types of air purifiers with corresponding advantages and disadvantages. However, these categories of the air cleaner all have a single objective – to keep your indoor air from pollutants and substances harmful to the health.

High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA). This is a type of air purifier that could be considered most trusted in filtering small particles. As proven by studies, it could trap as much as 99.97 percent of small contaminants. The amazing thing about HEPA purifiers is its capability to capture substances as undersized as 0.3 microns. Its targets are viruses, chemicals, bacteria, and other pollutants the naked eye cannot see.
However, since it focuses on the undersized particles present in indoor air, large particles will not be able to pass through the filter. Take note as well that it does not trap odors. Most manufacturers of HEPA air purifiers improve their products by adding activated carbon filter to absorb chemicals, gases, and odors.

Ionizing Purifier. The type of purifier makes use of corona discharge mechanism to create ions, which are charged molecules. The idea of the purifier is to make molecules passing through its filter negatively or positively charged. Either way, the purifier contains dual metal plates, one is charged positively and another negatively.
Consequently, harmful molecules in the air will be attracted to the purifier and get trapped. Otherwise, when particles in the air clump together, they will become heavier. This will result in the elements setting out of your indoor air. In any way possible, these pollutants will be removed.

Activated Carbon. This is a technology, which was also mentioned in the first type of air purifier. It provides a space where absorption of elements will take place. Since the 1900s, this type of filter has been used. Among the targets of activated carbon filters are odors, chemicals, smoke, and gases among others. Re-contamination is prevented by the purifier since it does not allow the pollutants to be released into the air again.
Although contamination of air is completely eliminated by the purifier, it is not as effective when getting rid of airborne elements. Additionally, it may not be as efficient in removing contaminants that are far from its location.

Ozone Generator. This is a type of purifier that is almost identical to ionizers. The difference in the appliance is its method of changing oxygen molecules, resulting to ozone. As claimed by the manufacturers of ozone generators, their products disinfect and deodorize the air. However, contrasting studies proved that ozone generators could be harmful. There is the likelihood for it to cause corrosion and metal oxidation.
Even if you know how to clean air purifier under this type, its possible effect of triggering asthma will not be eliminated. It is not about the accumulation of dirt in the device, but rather regarding the amount of ozone it produces.

Ultraviolet Technology. You will commonly find this type of air purifier used with other filtering systems. It has the drawback of not completely purifying indoor air. However, it is highly useful if you want to get rid of virus and bacteria. From the name itself, it makes use of UV, which will be radiated by a lamp. From this procedure, microorganisms in the air will be destroyed.

UV technology is often used as a last filtering stage. There are appliances made to filter hair via HEPA system first, then using activated carbon, and last with UV lamp.
Protecting your family with the present technology gives you more means of mitigating issues in the future. By selecting the right air purifier, your entire living may change from disease-stricken to a vigor one.

How to Cleanse the Scalp while Wearing Braids

We often wear braids as a form of protective or low-maintenance style. By doing this the hair gets less manipulation and is able to grow. The longer we have braids installed; the more build ups we accumulate on the scalp from sweat, pollutants from the air and surroundings, dead skin cells, sebum, hair products and more. To prevent this the scalp need to be cleanse on a regular basis. This diy scalp cleanse recipe is very simple.

ACV Scalp Cleanse Recipe
Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
Water Bottle Spray
Jamaican Black Castor Oil

Mix 1/2 cup ACV with 1 cup filtered water or bottled water.
Pour in a spray bottle.
Add 2 drops of JBCO
Spray over scalp and gentle massage.
Allow the ACV to sit on scalp for 3 minutes then rinse hair thoroughly with water to remove the ACV mixture.

This Mixture will help to keep the scalp clean without messing up with your Ph balance. By using ACV wash once per week it will replace the need for shampooing the hair. It will also help with itching and you will be able to wear your braids much longer and still maintain a clean scalp.

If you are not into the whole idea of DIY hair care then you can pick up the Hawaiian Silky 14-in-1 Miracles Natural Hair Balance Apple Cider Vinegar with Black Castor OilYou can also use other methods such as dry shampoo. Even though I'm not a big fan of dry shampoo.

12 Simple Ways to Keep Your Dental Implants in Good Shape

Want to ensure your dental implants are in good shape – follow these great tips.

Pay Attention to What the Doctor Says
It is important to listen to the doctor when it comes to caring for your dental implants. He or she has a good understanding of how these implants work and will be able to provide you with important information on the aftercare of these implants. As long as you are following the instructions that have been given to you, it should be easier for you to adjust to having these implants in your mouth.

Get Plenty of Rest
Most people do not realize how important it is for them to rest after their procedure is performed. If you are not taking it easy, you could end up experiencing additional bleeding and swelling. Give yourself time to heal from the procedure by relaxing and taking time off of work if necessary. You should not be getting too involved in strenuous activities during the healing time.

Use the Prescribed Medication When Needed
Some people feel like they do not need the prescription medication given to them by their physician simply because they have a high tolerance for pain and discomfort. Even so, it is important to take the medication you have been prescribed for as long as you have been directed to take it. There is a good reason why you have been given the medication in the first place, so make sure to follow the orders given to you.

Stay Hydrated With Water
One of the best things you can do for your mouth during the healing process is to drink plenty of water. Instead of reaching for the coffee or soda, consider sticking strictly with water until you have completely healed. Not only does it help with hydration, but it can also help you avoid experiencing complications that could occur during the aftermath of the procedure.

Do Not Smoke or Chew Tobacco
You may smoke cigarettes or chew tobacco on a regular basis, but you will need to stop during the healing process. If you do not stop, you are putting yourself at a greater risk of experiencing an infection. Aside from an infection, tobacco usage increases your risk of cancer and other serious medical issues, such as periodontal disease.

Try to Avoid Consuming as Much Alcohol
If you are drinking a lot of alcohol after the tooth implant, your gums may become inflamed, and that could put you at risk of an infection. Play it safe by skipping out on the alcohol for the time being. The doctor may advise you to stop drinking alcoholic beverages until the area of your mouth has healed properly.

Start Eating Healthier Options
Eating healthier foods is good for the healing process, but it is also a great way to improve your oral hygiene. Some of the healthier options you might want to consider adding to your list of delicious yet healthy food options include fresh salmon, fresh vegetables and even raisins.

Limit the Junk Food
While it is crucial to add healthier food options to your diet, it is equally as important to limit the amount of junk food you consume regularly. Foods that are loaded with sugar or are excessively sticky are not very good for the teeth. Although you may enjoy candy, cookies and assorted pastries from time to time, it is best to put a limit on how many you will have.

Limit Your Sugar Intake
Consuming toomuch sugar could cause decay to occur at rapid speed. If your teeth are decaying, it could become a major problem for you. Not only could decay eventually cause tooth loss, but it can also cause discoloration and other serious problems for you.

Get a Good Habit Going
Even though dental implants are not your real teeth, you still need to take care of them like they are real to keep them in the best possible condition. You should get in the habit of brushing and flossing regularly. It even helps to use a mouth rinse and water pick.

Keep an Eye on Your Implants
During your oral hygiene routine, make sure to check your implants out in the mirror. Keep eyes on the gums surrounding the implants, too. When you carefully inspect the area, you can check for any inflammation that may be developing. If you happen to notice any issues, you can contact the doctor right away.

Do Not Apply Pressure to the Area
During the healing process, make sure you do not put any pressure on that area of the mouth. You may need to eat softer foods for a while and chew on the opposite side of the mouth to avoid applying that pressure to the new dental implants.
These are some of the best ways to keep your dental implants in great condition while taking proper care of your teeth and gums.

The color was not vibrant enough to my liking since I tried to do an at home thing with not sufficient time. Luckily enough I had this wonderful product from Hask that helped to reverse the feeling of my dry thirsty hair from dying.

I immediately grab for the Hask Kalahari Melon Oil Color Protection Shampoo and apply a handful amount to my hair and scalp. My hair lathered in no time. I was loving the feeling of the Hask Shampoo rinsing the residue from my hair leaving my hair all clean and shiny.

After shampooing I used the Hask Kalahari Melon Oil Protection Conditioner which made my hair soft, manageable, shiny and smelling good. I followed up with the Hask Kalahari Melon Oil Nourishing Deep Conditioner; I left it in my natural dyed hair for approximately 20 mins and covered with a plastic cap. After rinsing the product thoroughly from my hair I applied the Kalahari Melon Oil Protection Shine Treatment and blow dry my hair using the Hask brush.

Wash n' Go on 4B/4C Hair

Wash n’ Go! We see the style, we love the curls and we want our hair in the same exact style but often times we consider is this style for my hair type? My first wash n’ go was done by my friend. It was a Saturday evening I washed my hair made a trip to her house. She started to work the products into my freshly washed hair by separating section by section and going through with a Denman brush.

After the products were applied to my hair I diffused for about 2 hours until my hair was dried enough from the roots. The turnout was amazing and I slayed that wash n’ go, everyone loved it.

Second Wash n’ Go Attempt
On my second time doing a wash n’ go I was hesitant to try on my own, so I purchase III Sisters of Nature Natural Curling Gelo from the beauty store and I used it along with the Eco-Styler Gel. Upon reaching home I washed my hair and watched a few tutorials on how to achieve a wash n’ go just to ensure that I get the job done right. I used every step mentioned in the YouTube videos but my attempt was terrible after my hair became dry. While my hair was wet the curls was popping but as it became dry my hair became flat and soft to the touch.

My Wash n’ Go Routine
Freshly washed hair drench with water
Curling cream completely coating each strand of hair
With a strong holding gel
Denman brush to define curls or finger shingling/coiling method
Diffuse or air dry

Third Wash n’ Go Attempt
On my third attempt of doing a wash n’ go I used the Eco Styler Gel along with Cantu Coconut Curling Cream and raked the product into my hair with a bit of finger coiling. My curls were super defined but after drying I find that my hair was filled with residues sitting on the top of my hair.

Through all my wash n’ go attempts I will try again until I get it right. Finding the perfect wash n’ go routine is not always easy. For some it will take multiple attempts, even though the steps are very simple. Not all products works well together, so this can be a disadvantage of achieving the perfect wash n’ go hairstyle. I also find that wash n’ go on my hair type leads to breakage.

What products do you use for your wash n' go hairstyle? Please leave your comments below.

How a Home Humidifier Works and The Different Types

A home humidifier is normally used in the winter time. When you turn on the heat in the winter, the heat not only sends cold air out of your house, it will also send humidity out.

Your home should have a relative humidity of about 40 to 45 percent. When the heat is turned on, the humidity can drop below 20 percent and even down to 5 percent. The low humidity can cause several problems inside your home as well as affect your health.

The dry air can suck the moisture out of your furniture. This can cause your furniture to break easily. Low humidity can also cause static electricity and can make the air feel colder inside. The wood in the floors can become dried out which causes the wood to shrink and create creaks. You’ll also notice cracks in the drywall and plaster of your walls.

As far as your health is concerned, the dry air from low humidity can dry out your skin and make you feel colder. Dried out mucous membranes can cause frequent nose bleeds and your throat drying out. This will make you even more vulnerable to colds and other respiratory problems.

A home humidifier will help you with these problems. It will raise the humidity to a proper level so that the air isn’t dry and you don’t sit around the house with a stuffed up nose and dry mouth. The water in the humidifier will either evaporate or release steam into the room causing the air to become moistened.

Of course, you only want to use it during the winter. In the warmer months, the humidity is higher and you don’t want your home to be too humid. That could lead to problems such as mold and bacteria buildup.

There are several types of home humidifiers you can buy. You don’t want to buy something that’s too complicated to figure out how to work. You also want to make sure that you will have the time necessary to clean and do proper maintenance on a regular basis.

Warm Mist Humidifier A warm mist humidifier is a great way to alleviate some of the symptoms of the common cold and other respiratory problems.

Cool Mist Humidifiers There are three types of cool mist humidifiers. Either type of humidifier will do the same job of raising the humidity in your room.

Furnace Mount Humidifier A furnace mount humidifier is also called a whole house humidifier. The way furnace humidifiers work is that they are usually fitted into your heating system.

Filter less Humidifier Buying a filter less humidifier might cost a little more, but it will save you money in the long run. These types of humidifiers are used in large rooms.

·        How to Clean a Humidifier?

It is very important that you know how to clean a humidifier. The cleaning and regular maintenance of a humidifier is the worst part about owning one. No one likes doing it, but it has to be done if you want your humidifier to work properly.

If you have a single room humidifier that uses a filter or a mineral pad, make sure you replace the filter/pad on a regular basis. Dirty filters and mineral pads can cause a problem not only for your house but for your health as well.

The purpose of the humidifier filter or mineral pad is to trap all the bacteria and dust that comes from the water you use to fill the tanks. If the filter or pad isn’t changed regularly, the bacteria will end up being released into the air of your room. This can cause fungi and molds to grow in your house.

The bacteria and mold spores will float around in the air and could end up getting into your food, drinks, your throat and nose. You can end up having some serious respiratory problems.

The manufacturer will have instructions included on how to clean a humidifier. It’s very important that you follow those directions and not try to do it your own way. You might end up damaging the unit or not cleaning it well enough to get rid of all the bacteria and dust.

If you are using tap water to fill up the tank, then you will have to clean the humidifier and tank more often. This is especially true if you have hard water. Manufacturers sometimes suggest that you use distilled or purified water to lower the amount of bacteria that’s in the water.

Many humidifiers are made of plastic parts. You have to be very careful how you clean these parts because the plastic can break easily. Using a toothbrush to clean the dust inside the unit is a good way to ensure that you won’t damage any parts.

Putting a teaspoon of bleach in a gallon of water in the tank will help get rid of bacteria. Let it sit for about 20 minutes then rinse the tank out until any bleach smell is gone.

You can also pour a cup of vinegar in the unit’s reservoir ONLY and let it sit for 20 minutes. Dump out the vinegar and then pour a cup of water in the reservoir only in order to get rid of the vinegar. Pour the water out after that.

You can then use the toothbrush to get rid of any mineral buildup and dust. Make sure you don’t get any water on the bottom of the unit or on any internal parts.

If you cleanyour humidifier once a week according to the manufacturer’s instructions and change the filter or mineral pad every few weeks, the unit should work properly and you won’t have any bacteria or mold build up in your home.
