Wigs Make Hair Styling Much Easier

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions are off the author.

I love admiring the different styles, quick and easy application of wearing a wig. There is not much to do than pin to the hair and your day is off to a good start. Wigs are versatile; it allows you to change your hairstyle in a matter of minute and it comes in handy on any and every given occasion. I love dressing up and this includes putting on my makeup, finding something to wear and having a hairstyle that I am most comfortable with and all of this takes time but wearing a wig makes it much easier as the application is simple. As a naturalista it can be tiring and difficult to be styling my natural hair on a daily basis. With this said I would more likely to wear a wig on these days.

These human lace fronts wigs looks natural and does not shout fake hair. It can be straighten and/or curled with the use of heat or flexible rollers. I love wearing straight hair as I can style it in my desired hairstyle and receive amazing results.

I recently came across Black Hair Spray and I am amazed by the types of wigs that they have available for sale and the low, low prices. I guess I will be shopping for wigs soon.

How do you like to wear your wigs? Long, straight, curly.

How To Throw An Academy Awards Party

Celebrities can always be seeing walking the red carpet at Hollywood events, rocking their beautiful dresses and posing for the camera. I especially love to see when photographers get every angle of celebs outfits and shoes - the whole 360 spin and shoe cam. The Academy Awards, nicknamed “The Oscars” specifically is a huge event in the celebrity world. The most prestigious movie stars get together to celebrate their accomplishments, which leads to an insanely glamorous and luxurious event. Seeing The Academy Awards on television isn’t enough for everyone - some dream of being there in the mix of the event and this is where a red carpet party comes into play.

The aim of throwing a red carpet, or academy awards party is to recreate the entire event with friends, changing the atmosphere to match the one of Hollywood. To kick off this red carpet party, there are some things that are required:

  • The invitation
  • Dress code
  • Ballroom
  • The red carpet
  • Step and repeat banner
  • Red carpet decor
  • Food and drink
  • Entertainment

The Invitation
The invitation you send out to your guests is the first impression they will get of the party. Since you are having an academy awards party, this invitation needs to be the epitome of luxury. Do not go too overboard with glitz and glam, though - sometimes being on the simple side is more elegant. Foil or letter press invitations are great ways to add glamour to your invitations, without being flashy. Before you send out your invitations, create a guest list with all of your invitees and ensure to limit it by your budget and venue.

Dress Code
Inform all invitees to attend your event in their best formal ballroom attire. When you create your invitations, you should make sure to put the dress code on there, informing your guests to play the part. This means that women will wear long, formal gowns and men will wear their fanciest tuxedo. Think about what you see on the red carpet - this is the type of outfit you are going for. If you do not have a gown or tuxedo that will “fit” the event, try searching for websites that allow you to rent for the night. For example, Rent The Runway is a great website for renting dresses!

Ballroom
After you come up with a tentative budget and guest list, the search is on for a venue! Find a place that will match the style of your event - imagine what the real academy awards party would look like and do your best to recreate that...of course, within your budget. When you find the perfect place, make sure you talk to them about the event you are picturing - this way, you will know what they do and do not allow.

The Red Carpet
Shop around for a red carpet long enough to cover the entrance of your venue. The red carpet is the first thing that guests will see when they walk into your event, so make it noticeable! If you can, have lights that amplify the red carpet and make your guests feel camera ready. Another fun touch would be hiring photographers as “press” for the party!

Step and repeat banner
The step and repeat banner is the banner behind your red carpet - it will be in every picture taken on the red carpet. Each year, the banner is different at The Academy Awards, but each year there is a similar trend - it is glamorous. Most usually have light tones like gold and white and typically say The Oscars on there. Make the banner your own - you could even add your name for a personal touch!

Red Carpet Decor
Red carpet decor is important to set the tone of the event. The decor includes flowers, tables, tablecloths, and more. A great, special touch to add to your event is a sword from Swords of Northshire. Swords of Northshire has replica movie swords on their website, which would be a great addition to your Academy Awards party. For example, they have a Braveheart replica sword. Braveheart won an Academy Award for best picture, best director, best cinematography, best sound editing, best makeup and hairstyle, best director - motion film, and many other awards. Another movie replica sword on their website is from Kill Bill. Your guests will be in awe at the high quality replica sword and the good thing about purchasing a sword for your party is that it will be of use after the event too. All of the swords are hand forged and battle ready, ensuring that you have the best product possible. Swords of Northshire has many fantastic reviews on their website to help you feel more comfortable in your purchase, too. These two reviews are just two out of over 375 reviews on their website: “I collect all kinds of swords, and I can honestly say the one I just got from swords of northshire is my favorite and one of the best quality blades I've ever gotten thank you so much!” “My sword is amazing. Better then I expected. I would recommend anyone looking for a sword of any type to look here first.”

Food and Drink
In my opinion, passed hor d'oeuvres would be a great addition to your party. Tapas style foods are always higher end and seem fancier. Of course, having someone pass around food the entire night does raise the cost of the event, so a great secondary option would be to have small bite sized food sitting around your ballroom. Cheese boards, chocolate fountains, cold soups, crostinis and more are perfect options to step up the food at your event.

brooke-lark-200721.jpg

Entertainment
The entertainment is always the star of the show! From musicians and speakers to magicians and dancers, you cannot go wrong. Honestly, if you incorporate all of the other aspects of this party, you could probably even get away without having “live” entertainment. A great way to save costs on this is to have your own speech, create awards for your friends and announce them yourself, and have a set playlist on your phone or computer that will play during the event. This will definitely get the party started!

The Academy Awards is an elaborate event that people watch and awe over, each year. Bringing the event to your friends in the form of a party is an amazing way to have the best time of your life and getting an excuse to dress up and have fun! Do not forget to have fun while planning and make sure to check out Swords of Northshire if you need a high quality movie replica for your fancy red carpet party!

When it comes to what’s in your wardrobe, a neutral, monochrome, and nude color palette is often an easy and versatile route to take. However, there’s no need to shy away from vibrant hues and pattern, in fact, a neutral palette provides the perfect backdrop for an array of color choices; you just have to know how to add a bright shade to your outfit.

Cosmetics
Okay, so technically your makeup collection will not reside inside your wardrobe; however, what you choose to put on your face is usually entwined with what you’ve chosen to wear that day. A bright nail, eye, or lip color can add an instant va-va-voom to any ensemble. Whether you’re pick a classic red, or a lively pink shade, the hands, and face are excellent places to catch people’s eye with a pop of color. Get yourself to a cosmetics counter and try on some different shades, you can ask for advice from the beauty specialist, and they’ll inform you of what hues suit your skin tone the best. So, if it’s a dreary day outside, and you’ve got your comfy plain clothes on; pop on a red lip, or a metallic nail, and you’ll feel great in no time.

Accessories
When it comes to accessorizing, your options are endless; making head wear, jewelry, bags, and shoes the perfect way to liven up your wardrobe by adding color. Finding colorful accessories that you love is often as much fun as wearing them. So, whether you’re hunting through vintage stores trying to find a yellow leather bag or sourcing blue gemstones in rings at places like Costco jewelry, enjoy the process, and your items will feel special each time you wear them. Layer your pieces up, and don’t be afraid to mix colors and patterns that you might think will clash; if your outfit is quite neutral, then a lively combination of accessories will show off your personality, fashion sense, and playful side. If you like something, whatever the color, be brave and wear it!

Outerwear
When the months get colder, and the days are shorter, it can be a bit of a dark and gloomy time; however, you get the chance to layer up your clothing and brighten your day with colorful outerwear. Whether you’re wrapping up in a cozy coat or jacket, it’s a chance to go against the norm and choose a bright hue that would usually be saved for the summer months. Plus; you’ll be easy to spot in a crowd, and your colorful attire will cheer up any grumpy passers-by. For some bright-colored jacket inspo; take a look on Pinterest.

If the thought of wearing a red or yellow jacket troubles you, and you not quite ready for that level of colorful commitment; wooly accessories are another great route to take. Scarves and hats provide the perfect canvas to rock some serious color choices and patterns. Even if it’s just the bright green pom-pom on your hat that shows off your vibrant side; it’ll contrast and stand out from your monochrome clothing, and provide that all-important pop of color we’ve been talking about this whole time!

Offbeat USA: Great Lesser-Known American Cities

When it comes to visiting the cities of the USA, a number of names will shoot to the front of people’s minds. New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C and San Francisco are all obvious choices. But sometimes one of the great joys of travelling if finding destinations that are a little bit off the beaten path that not so many people have been to in the past. With this in mind, let’s take a closer look at a few American cities that aren’t the location of a million movies and TV shows but still provide great places to visit this summer.

Fort Worth, Texas
While Houston, Dallas and Austin may take a lot of the plaudits, Fort Worth is another great city that shows you just how blessed Texas is as a state. Many people are drawn in by the chance to enjoy an authentic American West experience. Websites such as http://fortworthnation.com can provide more information. For sightseers, the Cultural District offers a treasure trove of riches, while Stockyards National Historic District is the place to go for more information about the history of the place. Entertainment opportunities are ample, so you certainly won’t be short of activities on a trip to Fort Worth.

Louisville, Kentucky
Louisville stands out in the state of Kentucky for its liberal values in a largely Republican state. If you are looking to visit a destination where the dining opportunities are absolutely first-class, you need look no further! You also shouldn’t miss out on some of Louisville’s famous bars where the party keeps going until 4 am! If you are more interested in the cultural side of the place, it is certainly worth checking out Louisville Slugger, the Speed Art Museum and Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft.

Tulsa, Oklahoma
The city where Chandler from Friends was once forced to move to would probably not appreciate being called underrated! But in relative terms, Tulsa is still not a hugely visited place in the country. The second city in Oklahoma is well-known for being home to two of the country’s most highly regarded museums; the Philbrook and the Gilcrease. The downtown area is also buzzing with life, with regenerated neighbourhoods galore and plenty of young people drawn by the universities and ample career opportunities. If you happen to be there in October, you should certainly not miss out on experiencing one of the best Oktoberfests that the world has to offer.

Islamorada, Florida
When most people think about the Florida Keys, their minds are usually immediately drawn to Key West and everything they have either experienced or seen on TV. A lesser known and more cultured spot is located further up the coast, but that’s not to say that you won’t be able to find a Full Moon Party if you are there at the right time of year! Ultimately, it is a place where you can go to blow off some steam and enjoy a different section of this great state.

How To Look Flawless On A Formal Night Out; From Head To Toe

If you’ve been invited to a formal event or evening (lucky you), it can feel a little daunting as there’s an array of things to consider before you go. Usually, the people, or person, requesting the pleasure of your company will have specified a dress code on the invite, or the theme of the party will help steer you in the right direction when it comes to your look. However, it’s important to prep and plan as much as you can beforehand; so you can get ready with ease, and your night will get off to the best start.

Hair
Let’s start at the top; your hair. Whatever your hair type might be; you want it looking the best it can on your big night out. On the run up to the event, make sure you take some time to indulge in a hair mask or two, so you know your hair is as strong and conditioned as possible. It’s important to nourish your hair before any styling, straightening, or curling, as most of these techniques require the use of direct heat to your hair, along with products and sprays that you’re not used to.

Figure out if you’re going to use a professional stylist at a hair salon, or if you’re confident enough to execute the hairstyle of your choice yourself. If you’re going with the salon option, make sure you’re booked in as soon as you’ve RSVP’d to the invite. Give yourself enough time to get dressed and apply your make up after the stylist (whether it’s you, or somebody else) has worked their magic. If you choose to get your hair done in the morning, ensure your style is locked in with enough spray, and it will see you through until you get in the car to go home!

Skin
It’s always a treat to pamper your skin, but in the days leading up to the formal event; make sure you moisturize each day after your bath or shower. If you plan to apply a fake tanning product, it’s key that your skin is hydrated, particularly around your knees, elbows, and heels. Fake tan a couple of evenings before; so it looks as natural as possible, and there’s time to fix any potential mistakes.

If you don’t feel the need to change the shade of your skin in any way, ensure it’s looking as bright, soft and moisturized as possible. Applying specialist foot cream to your feet and toes, and popping some cotton socks on them, before bed each night will ensure they are soft and sandal-ready. The morning of the event is a great time to use a body scrub, to get rid of any dry areas of skin, and pop your body cream, butter, or soufflĂ© of choice on from head to toe.

Cosmetics
When it comes to doing your own makeup for an occasion, make sure you have several practice runs in the evenings, or the weekend before the event. You might need to brush up on your eyelash application or get that contouring technique perfected, so it’s worth remembering that practice makes perfect! Take a look on YouTube and Pinterest for some inspiration and tutorials on formal makeup looks, and test out what’s going to suit your skin tone, hair, and outfit choice.

Try and work out how long the makeup will take you to do, and give yourself some extra time, in case you need to correct anything or fix a smudge (it’s bound to happen). For some tips on achieving a flawless makeup look, take a peek here.

Outfit
Just because you’re heading out to a formal event, doesn’t mean you have to feel completely uncomfortable, or unlike yourself. You can rock an outfit that fits both the occasion and your personal style; so bear that in mind when it comes to going dress or suit shopping. Thinking about the best color palette for your hair and skin tone is a wise place to start; you might think you’ve found the outfit of your dreams, only to find the color makes you look washed out and unwell. So, if you can eliminate certain colors and shades from your search, it will save a lot of time in the changing rooms.

Once you’ve figured out the best colors for you, think about what silhouettes complement your body shape. Be confident and embrace what you’ve been blessed with (while remembering this is a formal occasion and not a day at the beach). Try on different styles, in different fabrics; then take pictures in the changing room mirror, so you can scroll through each one and decide which makes you look the most fabulous.

Accessories
One of the best things about a formal event, aside from wearing beautiful attire, is completing the look with some jewelry. A special occasion is the best excuse to sparkle from head to toe literally, but make sure you don’t go too overboard (unless it’s an Elizabeth Taylor-themed evening).

Two to three key pieces are usually sufficient, and will create an elegant look; so, think about a set of earrings, necklace, and a ring for example, or perhaps you could swap the necklace for a bracelet instead. Think about what metal tones and gemstones will fit in will your look, and if you’re treating yourself to something new, take a look at sites like SilverBlings, which will help inspire you on what to choose.

Nails
Hopefully, you’ve already been moisturizing your hands and feet as discussed previously; but, now’s the time to add the finishing touches. You can further ensure the condition of your nails by using a cuticle oil on a regular basis before your come to paint them or visit the beauticians for a manicure.

When it comes to your nail polish choice; your options really come down to a neutral, nude shade, or a pop of color, that will stand out on your fingernails and toes. Classic berry tones and reds suit every skin tone, and will go with a huge variety of colors, ensuring your nails wouldn’t clash with your clothing; but, instead, would complement it. However, if you’re unsure and wary of looking too busy; pick a taupe or a pale pink shade, which will definitely go with your outfit, whatever the color.

Shoes
You finally have a legitimate excuse to go shoe shopping (yay); the first thing to make sure of is if you can walk in them. If you never wear stilettos or shoes with a heel higher than two inches, you’re unlikely to be able to walk and dance gracefully at the party, so try not to buy anything that will put your ankles at risk. Luckily, there are so many options when it comes to formal shoes, and they come in every heel height, style, and color imaginable; so you should be able to find the right pair for you and your outfit.

Make sure you try them on in the store and have a good walk around in them to make sure they are comfortable and don’t rub your feet. You don’t want your whole night ruined because your heels and toes have been in agony since half an hour in. You can wear your shoes around the house a little each evening to break them in and ensure they’ll be comfortable at your event. It’s always better to be strutting when you make your entrance, rather than hobbling!

Bag
Your bag needs to be big enough to hold your essentials; your phone, money, and any cosmetics that might need topping up throughout the night (breath mints and a comb also seem to come in handy). A clutch style bag is a great option, as it will hold all you need, but won’t be too heavy or cumbersome to carry around. Many clutches also come with straps and chains that can be folded away inside; so you can pull them out and pop your bag on your shoulder when you want to dance, take a selfie, or if your hands are full of canapes.

A beautiful bag is another chance to enhance your overall look, so consider the color and embellishments carefully. Think about metallic colors that will match your jewelry, a shade that will match your lip and shoe color, or perhaps the bag is where all the gemstones and sparkles can be in your ensemble. Check out what formal bags the celebs were wearing at this year’s Met Gala here: http://www.purseblog.com/celebrities/2017-met-gala-red-carpet-bags/.

The main thing to remember, with any special event or occasion, is to enjoy the process. It’s not all the time that you have to choose something formal to wear and make yourself look and feel great; so see the invite as an instruction to do that and have fun. You don’t have to lose your personality and style either; it’s a chance to figure out what you feel best in, at formal events that you may not experience regularly. Embrace the challenge, treat yourself, and indulge in some quality pampering and shopping time (sounds pretty great).

7 Simple Beauty Fixes To See You Through Summer

When you love beauty trying new treatments and looking and feeling good there’s always a buzz in the air as soon as summer comes around. Of course, we all love the warmer months, longer days and lighter nights but when it comes to beauty, summer offers us something else entirely. We get to shake up our hairstyles, go breezy with the makeup, and have fabulous treatments that make our beauty routines even easier.

If you’re wondering what treatments you should be trying to get yourself summer beauty ready, or what steps you should take to feel your more beautiful self, here are seven that you do not want to miss.

1. Hydrating Facial

The first thing that you're going to want to do is to focus on your skin. You may not notice it as first, but as soon as the weather warms up, we all get just that little bit more dehydrated in life. So not only do you have to drink more water during the summer months to keep your body happy and healthy, you have to pay a little more attention to your skin. Keeping up with your moisturizing routine is always good, but you might want to go that little bit further and apply a homemade hydrating face mask every week, just to make sure your skin is getting the care it needs.

2. Waxing

Even if you manage to go every single winter without shaving your legs (lucky you!), come summer, it’s one of those every other day chores, or sometimes daily) that we all hate. But, if you have super fast growing hair or dark hair, you might want to rethink that daily shower situation and opt for monthly waxes instead. If you get the right therapist, you’re going to walk away with super smooth legs and baby-soft skin.

3. Exfoliating

One way to help with that hair situation is to make sure that you exfoliate. It may not be something that you prioritize, at least when it comes to your body anyway, but during the summer months, it can be a beauty savior. When you exfoliate your body, you get rid of dead skin cells that can make your skin look dry and dull. You’re also ensuring that your wax lasts that little bit longer and the same goes for your tan - natural or otherwise. So, whether you choose to exfoliate with or without a scrub, you’re going to want to do this once or twice a week so benefits from healthy skin.

4. Hair Cut

Then there’s that all-important summer trim to think about. After winter, we can often be left with dry, dull looking locks. To make sure that they shine in time for winter, you’re not only going to want to up your conditioning and treatment game; you need to get all those dead and dry ends snipped off. Whether you opt for that simple trim or a complete restyle, you’ll feel like an entirely different person by the time you step out of the salon this summer.

5. Teeth Whitening

We all want a smile that we’re proud of. As a teen, if you went through that awkward, painful stage of wearing braces, you didn’t just do that to let your teeth go as you grow. Oh no. Especially if you’ve had braces regularly. Instead, you’re going to want to make sure that you not only keep on top of your oral health but that your teeth shine nice and white too. Whether you opt for professional whitening or use the incredible invention of charcoal toothpaste to get your smile up to scratch, summer is the perfect time to do it.

6. Spray Tan

When the weather warms up, and we all start to wear lighter layers and shorter lengths, we all want a nice tan to show off. You might not be hitting the beach anytime soon, but there are no reasons that you can’t look like you have. So, head to the salon and book in for a spray tan. That way, when you are wearing shorts and shorter tops, you’ll feel beach ready already.

7. Micro-blading

Isn’t it the dream to have flawless makeup all day, every day? If only we could wake up with a full face and get on with our day, it would save us a lot of time, right? Well, there is kind a way that you can. Semi-permanent makeup solutions, like micro-blading, give you beautiful eyebrows from the second you wake up. So if you want to go on vacation completely makeup free and still feel good, micro-blading is the answer.
